Meet The Lovings

Meet The Lovings

Meet The Lovings. 16 states deemed marriages between two people of different races illegal. But on June 12, 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court decided the case of Richard Perry Loving, who was white, and his wife, Mildred Loving, of African American and Native American descent. The case changed history, as this decision struck down all laws banning interracial marriage. Loving v. State of Virginia was not all that long ago, people.  C’mon now! In this pic Rich Loving is like “This is my woman, my bae my BOO!”  We wonder, “Who could hate it?” But apparently, lot of folks did hate it back in 1967 and a few still do – just as much as opponents hate gay marriage in 2015.   Still, love and justice prevailed in that case.  It would be remiss to not state the obvious: Their last name LOVING pushes this story right over the edge. You can thank The Lovings for opening the door to freedom so you can get your swirl on.
